Terms of Service

1. About these terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern use of Snaplot, an AI-powered cataloguing service for auctioneers. By creating an account or using Snaplot you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the service.

Snaplot is operated from the United Kingdom and English law applies.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 18 to create an account
  • You’re responsible for the security of your login credentials
  • One person or business per account; sharing logins is not permitted
  • You’re responsible for everything done under your account

3. Credits and billing

  • Snaplot uses a credit system. One AI-generated lot = one credit (unless otherwise stated for bulk operations)
  • The free trial includes 100 credits. No card is required to start the trial
  • Paid credits are purchased in advance via Stripe. Prices are listed in GBP on the pricing page
  • Credits do not expire while your account is active
  • We do not refund unused credits except where required by UK consumer law
  • If you exceed your credit balance, lot generation will pause until you top up

4. What you upload

  • You retain ownership of all photos and descriptions you upload or generate
  • You grant Snaplot a non-exclusive licence to process those photos for the sole purpose of providing the service
  • You confirm you have the right to use any photos you upload (e.g. you took them, or have permission from the photographer)
  • You’re responsible for ensuring the lots you describe comply with applicable laws (firearms, ivory, controlled substances, IP-restricted goods, etc.)

5. AI output — important caveats

  • Snaplot uses generative AI. Outputs are drafts. They are not professional valuations, certifications, or legal advice
  • You are responsible for reviewing every AI-generated lot before publishing it to your auction platform
  • Estimates are guides based on comparable items; they are not commitments from us about market value or final hammer price
  • The AI may make factual errors (misidentified makers, incorrect dates, inaccurate condition descriptions). The confidence score on each lot indicates how reliable the AI considered its own output
  • Snaplot is not liable for losses arising from AI-generated content you publish without review

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Snaplot to:

  • Catalogue items whose sale is unlawful in your jurisdiction
  • Generate misleading descriptions of damaged or counterfeit goods
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract underlying AI prompts or training data
  • Use the service in a way that disrupts other customers (excessive concurrent jobs, automated abuse)
  • Resell Snaplot capacity to third parties without a written agreement

7. Service availability

We aim for high availability but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Planned maintenance is announced in advance where possible. We are not liable for downtime caused by third-party providers (hosting, AI inference, payment processing).

8. Termination

  • You can cancel your account at any time from your account page
  • We can suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, with notice where reasonable
  • On termination: catalogue data is deleted within 30 days; export your data first if you want to keep it
  • Unused paid credits are not refunded on termination unless required by law

9. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded under English law.

Subject to that, our total liability arising from your use of Snaplot is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or £100, whichever is greater. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (lost profits, lost business, lost data beyond what would be recovered through the export tools).

10. Changes

We may update these Terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be notified by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

11. Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be heard in the courts of England and Wales. We’re happy to try informal resolution first — email [email protected] with the issue.
